The first impression of the ExpertClean 7500
As befits an electric toothbrush in the price range, the ExpertClean convinces from the first moment. The design is classy, the features are promising and there are also practical accessories in the set.
As you’re used to from the previous Sonicare FlexCare Platinum series, the ExpertClean also has the ability to control the intensity of brushing. More information on this can be found in the detailed presentation of the functions.
The handheld device feels great in the hand. The whole toothbrush appears lighter and slimmer than its predecessor.
The name ExpertClean already indicates that you are offered many different cleaning options here. In addition, there are extensive control options via a smartphone app.
Cleaning performance of the ExpertClean 7500
62,000 cleaning movements sound impressive, of course, but can this improvement be tracked?
I can still remember when new electric toothbrushes were all the rage, with outstanding 30,000 brushing strokes. Those numbers have long since become the minimum standard for sonic toothbrushes.
- After an intensive test, I can only confirm that the cleaning performance of the ExpertClean is exceptionally good. The teeth are smooth and flash as if polished.
- In my opinion, the result is just as good as the cleaning result of the Philips flagship, the Sonicare DiamondClean.
If you also take advantage of the numerous options for brushing variation and review, you will achieve a thorough and comprehensive tooth cleaning with this toothbrush.
Very quiet in operation
When using it, the very quiet operating noise of the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 is noticeable. This is a step in the right direction.
Features of the ExpertClean 7500
In this chapter, I will introduce you to the individual functions and accessories of the ExpertClean 7500 in more detail.
Here is an overview in advance:
- 4 cleaning programs
- 3 intensity levels
- Pressure sensor
- 2 brush heads
- Battery, charging cradle and USB charging cable
- Travel case
- Tooth floss
The ExpertClean 7500 kit is practical, comprehensive and even includes a few extras.
With the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500, you have four different cleaning programs at your disposal. These are called Clean, Gum Health, Deep Clean+, and White+.
- The Clean program is designed for daily “normal” brushing. It cleans the teeth for two minutes.
- If you select the Gum Health option, you massage and strengthen your gums. This cleaning program is gentler and takes a little longer (3 minutes).
- For particularly dirty teeth and the desire for intensive cleaning, use the Deep Clean+ program. Here, the entire strength of the toothbrush is played out over 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
- Finally, the White+ program, in conjunction with special brush heads, helps to remove stronger discolorations on the teeth and whiten them.
The Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 detects which brush head you’re using and automatically starts in an appropriate brushing program.
So you always clean with the best possible program.
The four cleaning programs are the main difference between the ExpertClean series model numbers 7500 and 7300. The ExpertClean 7300 model has only three cleaning programs.
Three intensity levels
Not so widespread – but in my opinion very practical – is the possibility of setting different cleaning intensities with the toothbrush. You have the choice between soft, medium and intense.
The Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 is versatile and will meet many needs. Simply choose a combination of the four cleaning programs and three intensity levels.
These three options, along with the cleaning programs, offer an incredibly wide range of choices to set the toothbrushing program that’s right for you.
With just a few clicks, you can switch to another mode or change the intensity of brushing.
Even though most users only use one or two brushing programs in their daily cleaning, I think it’s very good to have the option to vary the brushing mode and intensity.
Info: Additionally, the range of functions makes the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 useful for many users. Brace wearers and people with implants or dentures will also find suitable cleaning programs.
Not only for beginners is a pressure control with an electric toothbrush advantageous. The warning that you are applying too much pressure when brushing your teeth protects all users.
I see the pressure control like an insurance policy that protects me from dangers when brushing my teeth. After all, the modern sonic motors ensure very fast movements.
To ensure that they actually always fulfill their purpose – namely cleaning my teeth – and in no way cause damage, that’s what the pressure control is for.
As soon as the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 registers too much pressure, the brushing power is automatically throttled back.
The smart brush heads are another new feature of the ExpertClean series. The toothbrush recognizes which brush head has been put on and automatically switches on the most suitable program
You still have the option to manually change the cleaning function on the handle of the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 afterward, but for quick use, the smart detection is quite helpful.
The ExpertClean 7500 comes with two brush heads:
- The Premium Plaque Defence C3 brush head is medium-hard and removes intensive plaque.
- The brush head Premium Gum Care G3 is soft and designed to gently clean and massage the gums.
The smart coupling of the brush head and toothbrush also means you get a notification when it’s time to replace the brush head. According to the manufacturer, this is recommended every three months.
If you afford an electric toothbrush in this category, you should always make sure to replace the brush heads regularly as well. In this way, you will also achieve the best possible cleaning result in the long term.
A pack of 4 regular brush heads for the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500, the Premium Plaque Defense heads, costs around €30 at the regular price. You should already factor in this follow-up cost when you buy a toothbrush.
The package of four smart brush heads for the ExpertClean 7500 provides you with an entire year’s worth of accessories for your daily dental care.
You can also find cheaper no-name brush heads for the Sonicare toothbrushes, but these do not have the smart function. In addition, there are very large qualitative differences in the copies.
As described in the chapter Cleaning programs, the different programs of the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 have different run times. The timer ensures that the toothbrush turns off after the respective runtime.
Using the smartphone app, you can track how long and thoroughly you have brushed your teeth each day, among other things.
Like many other brands, Philips offers connectivity to a cell phone app for some electric toothbrushes
For some users, this feature is purely gimmicky, while others appreciate the ability to collect even more detailed data about their dental hygiene.
I find all the additional functions first quite positive. The app also requires a period of familiarization. However, those who find their way around the diagrams and options get good tips and tools to improve their dental hygiene.
For those who don’t like the app, the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 is perfect to use without it.
Battery, charging base and USB charging cable
With a fully charged battery, you’ll use the Sonicare ExpertClean for about 14 days during a normal cleaning session before you need to recharge it.
Electric toothbrush rechargeable batteries have become increasingly powerful in recent years.
To charge, place the handle on the charging station. Through the power adapter and USB charging cable, you have several options to charge the toothbrush, for example, via the mains, a computer or a USB power bank. This is especially convenient when traveling.
Many small details ensure that the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 is also ideal for travel. The handy size, powerful battery, and USB charging cable lead the way.
In addition, a travel case made of hard plastic, by you perfectly transport your toothbrushes.
Tooth floss as an extra
As a gift, the Philips Sonicare ExpertClean 7500 set also comes with a package of dental floss. This is pretty much the only product you’re missing besides your toothbrush to really clean your teeth thoroughly and comprehensively.
While flossing is not a costly extra, I like the reference to the importance of cleaning the spaces between your teeth, even when using high-quality electric toothbrushes.
Conclusion: an excellent set for dental care
In my opinion, the ExpertClean 7500 is a good advancement from Philips.
- The handy shape, the chic design, and the quiet motor definitely show progress.
- At the same time, the model offers a very good cleaning performance as well as versatile and extensive functions. How many of them you use is entirely up to you.
- Practical is the set to take the toothbrush with you when traveling. Surely this is a good selling point for some.
The Sonicare family now offers good electric toothbrush for every use and every budget. The Sonicare ExpertClean 7500* definitely belongs to the upper class.
Tip: If you want even more features and cleaning programs, the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart is relevant for you. This model is considered the ultimate Sonicare toothbrush.
