Caripro Ultrasonic Toothbrush
As a dentist, I follow a strict routine and try out new oral products often. But electric toothbrush is something I am not very comfortable with. Let me tell you why, it feels unnatural…just like the very first time I used a facial cleansing brush. I have used electric toothbrush like Foreo ISSA in the past, but got rid of it after 3 months. The silicone brush head was somehow not cleaning my teeth properly.

I don’t know what kinds of toothbrushes my colleagues use so I can only speak to my own experience. No, I would not use an ultrasonic toothbrush. It seems as though it is a gimmick based on the fact that we use ultrasonic scalers to remove calculus from teeth during cleanings.
The way that ultrasonics clean is not via the wave that the vibration of the transducer makes. It is rather done by the cavitation of the bubbles that follow in the wake of the wave. If you’re considering an ultrasonic toothbrush, I think you should also consider the kind like the Braun / Oral-B one with the head that rotates left & right. It does a great job of wiggling the brushes down in between teeth. I have had several over the many years and have been happy with each (eventually the rechargeable batteries wore out).
Ultrasonic as in beyond 20kHz, usually above 1 MHz though. There are some on the market. But I can’t find any proper source or anything. So do they work as advertised? Are there any downsides to them?
